Swedish Massage

The skin's natural functions will be stimulated improving the condition of the skin and the warmth created will help relax the body physically and mentally. Body massage originated in Sweden. Swedish body massage is the original massage technique involving a sequence of movements working superficially and deeper into the tissue layers. Movements such as effleurage work over the skin with the palm of the hand producing relaxation, whereas movements like petrissage work deeply. Petrissage movements such as wringing and kneading will help to relieve tension promoting deep relaxation in the tissues and muscles

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fiber's of the muscles, tendons and fascia. Deep tissue massage is used to release chronic muscle tension through slower strokes and more direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles not with the grain. Deep tissue massage helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is specifically designed for people who are involved in physical activity. But you don't have to be a professional athlete to have one - it's also used by people who are active and workout often. The focus isn't on relaxation but on preventing and treating injury and enhancing athletic performance.
A combination of techniques is used and the strokes are generally faster than Swedish massage. Facilitated stretching is a common technique as it helps to loosen muscles and increase flexibility

Benefits of Massage include:
Relief from pain e.g headaches, back pain, stress and tension
The relief of endorphins - the body's feel good hormones
Improved blood and lymph circulation
Injury recovery
Increased energy and vitality

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a treatment that consists of pricking the patient with a special needle. It developed in China about 2,000 years ago. Traditional Chinese acupuncture uses a complicated system of ancient ideas that are not easy for most of us to understand or accept today. However, many modern Western practitioners find that acupuncture can be understood in scientific terms. This makes it easier to use in a Western setting and it is becoming increasingly acceptable here and is termed modern acupuncture. Many hospitals today offer acupuncture to their patients and the British Medical Acupuncture Society has over 2500 members.

Cosmetic or
Facial Acupuncture

Cosmetic acupuncture (also known as facial enhancement, facial revitalisation or facial rejuvenation acupuncture) uses acupuncture to naturally stimulate the body's collagen production helping smooth and firm the skin of the face and neck. Local circulation is also stimulated tightening pores and brightening the face giving an overall radiant glow. These changes take time and around 6 to 10 weekly sessions are needed before the majority of results are visible.

As no two people are alike, the body massage sequence will be adapted to the client's needs. Massage may be offered in the salon for one hour or half hour treatments.
